We start this newsletter with great news: for the Christmas campaign “RafedìnXBetlemme”, we raised 17.778 euro with which we will support children in Hogar Niño Dios. This is an important result since the friends who used to support us through the pilgrimages are no longer allowed to visit Bethlehem due to the current pandemic. Habibi Valtiberina Association thanks you sincerely for your help in reaching this great achievement.
Our young women from Rafedìn were proud for this significant outcome and they shared with us their feelings: Hala told us that she was very happy to give her own contribution to help in every possible way the children in order to make them feel less lonely; also Sandy agreed with Hala and she hopes to have always the chance to support them and to bring them joy. We want now to share with you what Virgin said with great emotion:
“The first time we considered to help the children in Bethlehem I was very excited and, after all, this is the attitude of Rafedìn. I am very happy because the work of my hands could support the children: I always try to find a way to help people in need. The joy coming from this work was even greater of the Christmas joy.”
Christmas at Habibi, Rafedìn and Mar Yousef ended with the traditional celebration of Epiphany with a great involvement of the Italian community in Amman. After the Mass, in a festive atmosphere we had a great dinner made ad hoc and served by the beneficiaries of the project Mar Yousef; in the meanwhile, we played some traditional games such as the Italian Tombola.
The new year started with great news for the project Mar Yousef’s Pizza thanks to the new governmental procedures in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19. The decrease of the cases of virus in Jordan allowed the reduction of some of the measures: the curfew, which before started at 10 p.m., now has been postponed to midnight; moreover, the lockdown planned on every Friday now has been suspended. These new procedures have positively affected the activities in Mar Yousef Pastoral Centre that now seem to get back to the ordinary.
We end this newsletter sharing with you the recent visit of the Consul of Cooperation and Cultural Action and Director of the French Institute, Mr. Gilles Roulland. The generous contribution of the French government allows us to help around 60 refugees through the projects Rafedìn and Mar Yousef’s Pizza and showing the results of our work was a great honour for us, for all the young women of Rafedìn, our chefs and our guys of Mar Yousef project.
