Osservatorio is a recent training initiative promoted by Habibi Association, conceived as a space for reflection, research, and editorial production on the Middle Eastern region.
A core principle of the project is the importance of giving voice to the actual protagonists of the events being reported. It seeks to listen to and represent those who truly live the stories we narrate, and the places where they unfold, in an ethical and respectful manner—rather than speaking on their behalf.

WHO IS IT FOR?
Osservatorio is designed for journalists and media professionals who wish to deepen their understanding of the Middle Eastern region through a contextual approach that is sensitive to its various social and cultural dimensions.
WHY?
The need for Osservatorio Medio Oriente arises from significant shifts in international contexts, media representations, and communication strategies.
These transformations highlight the importance of conscious and well-grounded analytical and narrative tools—capable of conveying the richness and complexity of Middle Eastern societies.
OBJECTIVES:
1 – PROFESSIONAL TRAINING
To equip professionals with the ability to communicate the complexity of the Middle East competently and with full respect for local contexts, through:

2 – NETWORK & LOCAL COOPERATION
To build an active and interconnected reference community by promoting stable ties between Italian media practitioners and existing realities in Middle Eastern countries.
This network translates into partnerships with local institutions, religious entities, social organizations, cultural actors, and communities, all grounded in mutual respect and trust.

3- DIRECT ENGAGEMENT WITH LOCAL CONTEXTS
At the heart of the project lies direct contact with the people, places, and stories of the Middle East.
This pathway is built around study trips and immersive experiences within local contexts, designed to refine participants’ listening skills, narrative sensitivity, and sense of responsibility.

A project founded by Arcidiocesi di Bologna.
